Bread Making

Unfortunately this course has finished, but if you want to know more, Andrew Whitley runs lots of bread making courses at his own Bread Matters cookery school, or you can buy his book of the same name.

You can also join the Real Bread campaign to help find ways to make bread better for us and the planet!

Courses:

Bake it real!

Saturday 18th Sept 2010 10 am – 5 pm at Jewel & Esk College

This was a great opportunity to spend a day making your own delicious bread with well-known artisan baker and teacher Andrew Whitley, for a fraction of the cost of a cookery school!

A dozen of us learnt the secrets of fermentation using yeast and sourdough, how to shape, prove and bake a variety of breads – and much more!

Andrew Whitley started The Village Bakery in Cumbria in 1976, using local stoneground wheat and wood-fired ovens. He’s now moved to Macbiehill where he teaches baking and is helping to start a community bakery at Whitmuir Organic Farm. He is co-founder of the Real Bread Campaign and author of the award-winning book Bread Matters.

The course cost £20 which covered all materials, but not lunch.

If you missed this course, but would be interested in us running it again, or something else, please contact polly@pedal-porty.org.uk or phone the office on 0131 258 4483.
